Through Court!

I finally made it through court! Today went from one of the worst days I have had during this journey to one of the best. All it took was one phone call! That phone call came in at 4:03 PM according to my bedroom clock. My court date was last Thursday but my SW didn't hear anything until today. The news that I am now officially JM's guardian is the best news I have had in months! The only thing that tops it is when I found him on the waiting child list and was told he was "yours if you want him." I will never forget either of those moments or the pure joy that came with them.
The unofficial word is that I will be travelling the week of March 19. My parents are coming with me and we will actually leave Madison on March 15. There is a weekend trip to the southern area of the country that we want to go on. It will give us an excellent opportunity to see more of the country and learn a little more about JM's birth culture. There is a chance that we could travel the week of March 12 but that is doubtful. It is more likely that we will go the following week. I am fine with either week. There are pluses and minuses with any week and a few days won't really make a difference. We have the rest of our lives to be together.
I can't believe that I will be travelling in just 30 days! There is so much to do before that. I have to wash his clothes, baby proof the house, prepare the au pair's room and shampoo the carpets. I have four "weekends" off work between now and then to get it done. I also need to finish his quilt for his bed. I have been working on cross-stitching it for months. I am almost finished and should have it done in plenty of time. I am so excited! It won't be long now!

Congrats! How is your terribly spoiled dog going to handle sharing your attention with your new arrival?

Heather,

Your son is beautiful and an absolute joy. He is so smiley and happy. The nannies shower him with love. He is so clearly the favorite.

Congratulations on your sweet, beautiful boy!
